Meet the FX DRS Pro MDT 700 5.5mm PCP air rifle - powerful, with a striking, contemporary styling. What immediately catches the eye, of course, is the seeming absence of an air reservoir.
This gives the FX DRS Pro MDT 700 a nice and low profile. The Swedes have done this by placing the air reservoir as a shroud around the barrel. A very neat solution that gives the FX a very minimalistic look with clean lines.
MDT chassis
With the FX DRS Pro MDT 700, FX has fully committed itself to PRS (Precision Rifle Shooting) long-distance competition shooting with slugs. It's not only notable in the slug-optimised setup using a large plenum and upgraded internals, but also in the use of the well-regarded MDT ACC Elite chassis that MDT has redesigned specifically for FX to use on the DRS Pro. There has been a good focus on balance, as the barricade block has shifted backwards more than usual. With that, the FX DRS Pro MDT 700 has a very impressive basic balance.
The light and also very stiff aluminium chassis features an MDT Premiere GEN2 buttstock. They also machined it from light aluminium and has a length adjustment, as well as a height-adjustable cheekpiece. Obviously, the FX DRS Pro MDT 700 has all the necessities that a shooter needs for a perfect shooting stance.
Air tube barrel shroud
Of course, the FX DRS is FX's first PCP with the air reservoir mounted around the barrel, and the Pro MDT 700 is in that ranks. No cylinder or bottle under the barrel, giving the advantage of a significantly lower profile. This will aid you in your shooting stance, but also means that transporting and storing the FX DRS Pro MDT 700 will take less space. The air capacity is 307 cc.
Adjustable regulator
To have the FX DRS firing every shot with the same pressure, this PCP uses a MKII AMP regulator.
This regulator is externally adjustable, making it a breeze to adjust the pressure to match the chosen pellet or slug. Doing this ensures the highest possible accuracy and guarantees an ultimate shot consistence.
Adjustable hammer spring
After taking off the stock, you can adjust the hammer spring preload. With more preload on the hammer, the valve will stay open longer, letting through more air. And with less preload, the valve will closer quicker, letting through less air. You can experiment with this and try to keep air pushing behind the pellet or slug for as long as possible, without and excess of air disturbing the balance when the projectile exits the barrel.
Super High Power plenum and Slug Power kit
FX is well-known for spending a lot of time perfecting their plenums. This is the air chamber (pre-chamber) between the regulator and the valve. So, the exact amount of regulated compressed air that the rifle uses to propel one projectile. For large projectiles, longer barrels and also higher speeds, the rifle needs more air to let the pellet or slug leave the barrel with the desired speed. That's why the FX DRS Pro MDT 700 features a 63 cc SHP plenum. And to match, a Slug Power kit is installed, consisting of a slug probe and a heavier hammer weight.
Superior STX barrel system
The Superior STX barrel system features a removable liner with rifling that's pressed in from the outside. This makes for a very smooth inner surface, as well as very fluent rifling. They did all this to minimise friction and maximise sealing around the slug. The barrel features a ½ UNF thread with thread protector for mounting an optional moderator.
Adjustable match grade trigger
To get the very best out of the FX DRS Pro MDT 700, its match grade trigger is fully adjustable.
With this, you can adjust the trigger exactly as you like it, making its feel match your shooting style. Both the first and second stage are adjustable and the trigger blade is adjustable in distance and height, but can also be rotated for perfect ergonomics. The trigger has a very crisp break and you can also adjust the trigger weight to be extremely light.
Magazine options, rails and weights
The FX DRS standard comes with a mini magazine. Thanks to this small magazine it's possible to mount the rifle scope very close to the barrel. As standard, they mounted a low 30 MOA Weaver/Picatinny rail. But, a higher one is available if you want to use the optional mega magazine with more capacity. We've also got weights to fit into the M-LOK slots in the chassis to finetune the balance to your preferences.
Cocking and filling
With the magazine in place, you can easily cock the FX DRS Pro MDT 700 by pulling the very subtle cycling side lever on the right side towards you. And to quickly refill the air reservoir, there's a filling hole on the right side, into which you can put a fill probe. Easy!
Please note: The FX DRS comes pre-adjusted in an average state of tuning for average use. The maximum power stated in the specifications can be reached by using the multiple adjustment options on this air rifle.
